Electrical Machinery Technician

Electrical Machinery Technicians must have satisfactorily completed a registered apprenticeship and have had practical training as a winder and/or electrical fitter. They must have obtained the SQA Parts 1 and 2 Certificate and City & Guilds IET Wiring Regulations to BS 7671 (or approved equivalent).

In addition the must have:

- 5 years’ subsequent experience as a foreman/charge-hand and/or winder/electrical fitter with a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience of a.c. and d.c. winding and machine construction and operation, together with the ability to achieve a high level of productivity in the work which they control. They must clearly have a technical skill and ability beyond that of the approved winder and/or electrical fitter; or

- their value to the employer would be as if they were qualified as technicians who have exceptional technical skill and experience beyond that expected of an approved winder and/or electrical fitter, and who are in particular capable of low tension and high tension winding and of full testing and commissioning of low tension and high tension complex plant.

Rate of Pay: The appropriate rate of pay for an SJIB Graded Technician.

All operatives applying to be graded or re-graded must be in possession of an ECS Health and Safety Assessment or approved equivalent which is not due to expire within six months.
