2.1 Operatives Covered by the Scheme
The SJIB Welfare Credit Scheme applies to all Technicians, Approved Electricians, Electricians, Labourers, Adult Trainees, and Apprentices who have not reached the Normal Retirement Age (65), whose rates of wages and working conditions are determined by the SJIB and are employed by Full Members of the SJIB.
Apprentices and Adult Trainees who complete their apprenticeship/training during the Contribution Year and who have been in the continuous employment of a Full Member of the SJIB for not less than 8 weeks prior to the sickness or accident in respect of which a claim is made.
If an employer wishes to provide cover for any employee past the Normal Retirement Age, evidence of health is required. Employers should contact the SJIB for further advice and guidance.
