The following Electricity at Work Regulations – Assessment Procedures for Safe Working Practices chart illustrates the assessment procedures for safe working practices for persons
who carry out work on or near electrical equipment in circumstances in which danger may arise. Where regulation numbers are quoted they refer to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
The assessment procedure can be divided into four stages:The assessment procedure for actions which are common to both dead and live working.The assessment procedure for deciding whether to work dead or work live.The assessment procedure for working dead.The assessment procedure for working live.
This assessment procedure should be carried out by a competent person (Manager or Supervisor) who must have sufficient technical knowledge or experience to prevent danger or, where appropriate, injury.
