As you are aware, the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB) launched its new ECS card portal on 9 May 2020. This portal allows applications for Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) cards to be made via a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
The following cards are now available via the portal:

Professionally Qualified Person (PQP)
Academically Qualified Person (AQP)
I am pleased to advise that we are adding to this portfolio with the introduction of the new Professionally Qualified (PQP) card on Wednesday, 22 September.
PQP cards are for operatives and managers who work in specialised electrotechnical disciplines, but do not carry out any installation work. Their work is typically aligned to or in support of the electrical industry but is not already covered by a core ECS card.
The PQP card recognises the card holder’s professional status through their registration with an electrotechnical professional institute such as The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).
To be eligible for a PQP card you must be a member of a professional institute and be able to provide proof of your membership. A list of organisations that apply to PQP cards can be found at the Professional Bodies Finder. You must also have completed the ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment (within the last 30 months) or hold a valid approved exemption.
· Visit the ECS Card portal
· Click on ‘Management’
· Click on ‘PQP’
· Complete the Initial Online Application.
Please be aware that you must upload copies of ALL relevant certificates. Failure to do so will delay the application process and subsequent card issue. Recent analysis showed that, on average, 60% of applications cannot be processed due to anomalies, e.g., expired and/or wrong certificates etc. It is therefore essential that you read the card criteria carefully and only upload or enclose correct and valid certificates with your application.
